2014 • Money Influencing WCC Elections

If you have campaign disclosures of earlier years or any pertinent data please send an email to: EdCore @ mail.com

Money has been a strong influence in the West Contra Costa Unified School District for many years from when the first construction bond passed.
The County Elections office only posts more recent years of disclosures.

This page is under construction. Data is collected from a variety of public sources and is subject to change.

To submit additional data on campaign finance please email: MoneyInWCC @ gmail.com

There were two candidates, Ms. Kronenberg and Mr. Chau, that received over 90% of their contributions from construction interests in 2014. The largest contributions are from vendors that have received no-bid contracts. Then in 2016 Peter Chau sits on the RPA Education Committee and moderates various candidate endorsement forums in WCC.

Independent Expenditure Committees
2014 is the first year Independent Expenditure PACs pour thousands into WCC campaigns. Now someone besides the construction interests are influencing WCC district elections. The contributors include education related groups, unions and the California Charter School Association (CCSA).  In 2016 campaign limits policies are discussed in the Governance Subcommittee meetings, however some school board members do not seem supportive campaign limits policies or resolutions.
